Kay is a Chartered Psychologist, Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society and Senior Lecturer at the University of Derby. Her current research work centres on child development, especially emotional wellbeing. Her published works include books; book chapters and academic papers related to cognitive and socioemotional development in the early years. She teaches on the on-campus and on-line Early Childhood Studies programmes at Derby and supervises doctoral students in both Psychology and Education.
