Dr Reem Okasha
Reem Okasha is an early-career researcher specialising in climate-responsive school design and child-centred participatory approaches to educational environments. She completed her PhD at the Welsh School of Architecture, Cardiff University, examining outdoor thermal comfort in school environments and the implications of school design for children’s thermal conditions and climate resilience.
Alongside her doctoral research, Reem has contributed to participatory projects involving children, schools, local authorities, and industry partners. This includes the award-winning Shape My School programme, which supports children’s participation in shaping their school environments. She is also involved in projects developing inclusive co-design approaches for pupils with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) and exploring how children can contribute to creating greener and more child-friendly urban environments.
Her research interests focus on integrating environmental performance, participatory approaches, and climate adaptation to create resilient and inclusive learning environments.
