Creating Inspiring Outdoor Spaces for Learning and Play
This award recognises schools, colleges, organisations, or design professionals who have created or transformed outdoor spaces into high-quality learning and play environments. These spaces should enrich educational experiences by providing stimulating, inclusive, and sustainable outdoor settings that support learning, well-being, and physical activity.
Successful projects will demonstrate a participatory approach to design, engaging with learners, educators, and the wider community. They should enable meaningful connections with nature and promote outdoor learning through habitat creation, biodiversity, and exposure to natural environments. Additionally, projects should incorporate sustainable design principles, enhancing climate resilience through nature-based solutions and environmentally responsible choices.
The award may also recognise initiatives that successfully integrate outdoor learning and play into the curriculum, fostering regular engagement with the outdoors as part of a holistic educational experience.
